About me
I began my career as a middle school math teacher in the South Valley and progressed to the role of Assistant Principal, ultimately becoming the first female Hispanic Principal at Ernie Pyle Middle School. After that, I joined the APS district office as the Instructional Manager for Summer School and Family Engagement. I was responsible for opening the Office of Equity and Engagement, where I led the Restorative Justice program and the Equity Council. Subsequently, I spent two years at AHS in various roles, including Interim Assistant Principal, Instructional Coach, and Testing Coordinator. I concluded my 25-year career in education in the Bernalillo Public Schools system, serving as Dean of Instruction at BHS and Middle School Principal. After "retirement," I took on a part-time position as a Technology teacher at Our Lady of Assumption because I missed being with students and teaching. I am passionate about making learning engaging and believe that creating effective and efficient systems is crucial for fostering positive school environments. In my view, it is essential for teachers and staff members to feel truly supported in their professional growth. My skills encompass all aspects of building a positive school culture.
