About me
Aimee Parra is a native New Mexican, born and raised in San Antonio, NM, just a short drive from the Bosque del Apache in Socorro County. After earning her degrees from New Mexico State University, she, her husband, and their two daughters made Las Cruces their home. As a family, they enjoy spending time outdoors, caring for their animals, and attending local and national rodeo events. Aimee is new to the CES LEAP coaching team and is eager to support new educators in their professional growth and leadership development. She previously worked with the New Mexico Public Education Department’s Educator Fellowship, mentoring aspiring teachers and equipping them with the tools needed for success in the classroom. Passionate about removing barriers for future educators, she is dedicated to helping them become highly skilled professionals who positively impact their students. Aimee began her career in the Las Cruces Public School District, teaching kindergarten through third grade. She has also served as an Education Leadership Coach and Teacher-Network Coordinator for a nonprofit organization focused on informing, engaging, and elevating teacher voice in instructional best practices and policy. Additionally, she has served on the advisory boards for CES LEAP, the UNM Transformative Leadership Program, and NM Golden Apple Scholars, as well as the governing council for a charter school in Silver City, NM. She attributes her teaching success to her ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and the community. She firmly believes that all students have the potential to achieve great things, and as educators, it is our role to help them see and realize their full potential. Aimee holds a BA in Dance and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Elementary Education from New Mexico State University. She also holds a Level Three Instructional Leadership license and an Administrative license.
